Dinna, Mal-Mal style.
Earlier this evening Mallory challenged me to tell her one reason she’s given me to just KNOW she loves me. Sometimes it’s easy to forget or undervalue the small things like this note.
Mallory put this on our back door because she knows I tend to take Kecia (and myself) out our back door regardless of the weather with little regard to the mud and other mess that’s tracked in after taking this route.
I try to be as clean as possible, but she knows that as many times as she’s warned me I still have a bad habit of flinging the back door open and being on my way with something else on my mind.
And I know she loves me because this is how she reminded me a few days ago when it was worse than normal outside. This is worth tons more than the paper it was written on.
So, this is one reason I am 100% sure you love me, Mallory.

2011
There are so many things I could say about 2011 - it was my favorite year and better than I ever expected. When I look back, I’m sure I’ll remember it as the year I spent planning our wedding, and the year that I was so fortunate to marry my best friend. A lot of other things came with the whole wedding experience too - we felt such an overflow of love from family and friends this year, much of it was unexpected, yet so appreciated.
Again, there is so much I could say about 2011, but the bottom line is that it was wonderful - it was perfect, and I’ll never forget it. I am so grateful that I am able to experience the joy in my life that I do today. I’m excited about 2012 because I know it will bring just as much joy with new experiences and new phases in life. I literally get to enter the new year as a new woman. Thank you all for being a part of my 2011 :)

Goodbye, 2011!

I’m lying on the couch at 7am after sleeping for a few hours intermittently throughout the night. This last time trying to force myself back to sleep for a few more hours, I started thinking back over the year and reflecting on not only our accomplishments and growth, but also the challenges which helped us and are still helping us grow as a healthy couple and healthy people.
It seems like just yesterday I was on my way to Carrollton to join Mal for New Years with a bottle of cheap Sparkling Champagne and anything but a cheap smile slapped across my face. It was the first time we had tried Champagne – we wanted to bring in the new year with class, and that was the best way I knew how.
I stayed up all night the night before and Kecia bit the paperman that morning at my Mom’s house. I ended up falling asleep at Mal’s apartment as she watched the ball drop on her small bedroom TV. I think we both might have had a sip of that champagne, it didn’t meet our palettes at all.
She may have not been pleased but I still remember how right it was to be with her, no matter what we might have been doing. Since, we’ve celebrated in a number of different ways in different places. Once even with plastic clappers and fake sushi from Publix (and NY Strip, too).
I hope we always remember that celebrating together isn’t always about the event, but the special memories that are made when the two of us are genuinely happy and content with life, in harmony. Those are some of my favorite memories celebrating.

Scot talks Christmas 2011.
Ed. Note: Yes, I am still in my PJ’s with uncombed hair at 6:30PM on Christmas day. Why? Because I can! :)
Ed. Note: Technical difficulties toward the end due to Mal’s big finger over the iPhone mic. :)
Scot & Mallory Smith - Christmas 2011
Santa talked with the → Wedding Photographer and asked for a very special favor last night so that Scot might surprise Mallory with an unreleased photograph from their wedding.
Santa seems to even be a little crafty with the addition of our invitation logo to boot.
(→ Our photographer is still editing the shots as they did a very thorough job with photographing the event, so Mal hasn’t seen this yet!)
Thank you, Santa for taking care of my sweet Susie Snowflake.
